IAT Auto Debuted in TOKYO MOBILITY SHOW 2023

On October 25, 2023, YAMATO INDUSTRY CORPORATION and IAT AUTOMOBILE will jointly exhibit at the JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW 2023 at Tokyo Big Sight. They will show a brand new electric commercial van that they plan to introduce to the Japanese market in the future, as well as a full-size pickup truck concept based on IAT's self-developed electric platform.

IAT & YAMATO・INDUSTRY

After years of development since its establishment, IAT Automobile has grown to the largest automotive design and development company in China, and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the development of electric vehicle-related technologies in both Chinese and Japanese markets. In 2022, IAT Automobile tied up a capital cooperation with YAMATO・INDUSTRY. 

Established in 1937, YAMATO・INDUSTRY has contributed to many domestic industries through the production and sale of resin parts and logistics equipment, and has had a close relationship with Japan's logistics industry for many years.

YAMATO・INDUSTRY will enter the electric mobility business in Japan by establishing a new brand, JEMY, which is the initial letters of "Japanese Electric Mobility by Yamato Industry". This means "YAMATO・INDUSTRY will change the culture of electric mobility in Japan." JEMY will continue to embody IAT's EV-related technologies and know-how as well.

JEMY EV48

The EV48 is an electric logistics van that has been in mass production in spring 2023 by JENHOO Auto, a Chinese start-up company. This van is optimized to meet the unique needs of Japan, and YAMATO・INDUSTRY plans to import and sell it in Japan as the Car No. 1 of JEMY brand.

From the conception stage, the EV48 was optimized according to the pure electric logistics vehicle, and the design features with a rear-mounted rear-wheel drive system, a centered battery pack, a long wheel base, short overhang, and a fully flat floor. Since the model is clearly designed 100% for cargo transportation without considering the use of people transportation, it is designed with a smooth stamping siding and is free of widow frame, so that the user can paint it freely. 

In addition, the driver/co-pilot seat is completely separated from the cargo box by a sliding-door window frame. Meanwhile, the B-pillar-free structure and the large opening sliding door on the co-pilot side allows easy loading/unloading of large items. Furthermore, the co-pilot seat can be fold into a workbench by a single click. These are designed to meet the various needs of the logistics site.

Oriented to the needs of Japanese customers, an extra-high roof makes it possible to step in and out. Cargo handlers will be able to move around the cargo box in a natural position without bending over, reducing their physical burden. It is expected that the EV 48 will be introduced to Japan on a B-to-B basis (for commercial clients), and the launch date has not yet been finalized.

TRUCK-MAD

This is the first time for the TRUCK-MAD to debut in Japan. It is a full-size pickup truck concept that utilizes a purely electric platform developed independently by IAT.

IAT already has a number of pure electric platforms that meet the demands of OEMs around the world, encompass large to ultra-small models. The TRUCK-MAD is equipped with a 600kW electric motor at the front and rear respectfully, which can provide a range of up to 600km on a single charge, and up to 800km with an additional extended battery.

The styling development of TRUCK-MAD was completed by IAT under the guidance of Mr. Shiro Nakamura. The overall styling concept is "starship-like", and the large opening double-hinge door and B-pillar-free exterior design demonstrate the bold creativity and offer an indelible impression. 

The interior features a centralized driver seat with a space cockpit atmosphere and a distinctive diamond-shaped seating layout. A variety of seating plans, such as long slide seats and swivel seats, provide comfortable communication spaces. By promoting the short-term development of high-performance electric vehicles, IAT is contributing to the evolution of the global electric vehicle market, and is committed to making efforts in science for better cars.
