Recently, Yamato Mobility & Mfg. Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Yamato"), a company in which IAT Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "IAT") holds an equity interest, announced that it has officially signed a business cooperation agreement with Auto Works Kyoto Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "AWK"), a core subsidiary of the Nissan Auto Body Group.
The agreement focuses on developing an electric powertrain conversion for the Nissan Atlas (F24) truck. This signifies a substantial deepening of cooperation between the two parties in the field of EV repowering, with the joint aim of creating competitive new electric commercial vehicle solutions.
Since establishing its partnership with IAT in October 2022, Yamato Mobility has been dedicated to advancing its "diesel-to-electric" conversion business, transforming diesel trucks into environmentally friendly electric vehicles. This collaboration represents another significant milestone following the "Basic Agreement on Commissioned Electric Conversion" signed by both parties in September 2025.
To achieve steady growth in this sector, the two sides are forging a deep alliance. The goal is to integrate AWK’s sophisticated craftsmanship in body manufacturing with IAT’s mature core EV conversion technologies, thereby strengthening the business foundation and accelerating market deployment.

Previously, the electric conversion business primarily focused on the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter model. Through this cooperation, the electric technology platform will be extended to Nissan’s popular light-duty truck—the Nissan Atlas (F24). The converted electric truck will retain the advantage of a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) below 3.5 tons, allowing it to be operated with a standard driver's license, which significantly lowers the entry barrier for users.
The model preserves the robust and durable product DNA of the Nissan Atlas while achieving comprehensive performance enhancements through electrification. According to the plan, the new vehicle is scheduled to commence production at the AWK Kyoto factory in the summer of 2026, with an initial annual production target of 500 units.
This cooperation transcends the technical retrofit of a single vehicle model; it pioneers a new paradigm of complementary strengths between the Chinese and Japanese automotive industries. By successfully integrating IAT’s electric solutions with Japan’s profound automotive manufacturing heritage, it provides a replicable and scalable model for the green transformation of traditional commercial vehicles. This not only promotes the substantive implementation of IAT’s global electric conversion strategy but also serves as a strong response to global carbon neutrality goals and regional sustainable development needs.
Amid the wave of transformation in the century-old automotive industry, IAT is leveraging technological innovation as the engine and industrial cooperation as the bond. The company is continuously extending this successful model to broader markets, playing an increasingly vital role in advancing the global transition to zero-carbon transportation, dedicated to "efforts in science for better cars."
