IAT Joins Forces with CATL Smart to Foray into the Intelligent Chassis Ecosystem

Recently, IAT officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with CATL (Shanghai) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (“CATL Smart” for short), marking a joint effort between two industry leaders with profound technological expertise in their respective fields. Building on IAT’s outstanding capabilities in vehicle design, R&D and integration, as well as CATL Smart’s advanced Panshi Skateboard Chassis technology, the two parties will jointly provide diversified, high-value complete vehicle development solutions for the global NEV market. 

They will also collaborate to advance the R&D of skateboard chassis technology, deepen its synergy with the industrial ecosystem, injecting strong momentum into the innovative development of the industry.

Synergizing Core Strengths to Deliver Diversified Solutions

Under the agreement, the two parties will fully leverage their respective core strengths. CATL Smart will provide the Panshi Chassis portfolio, covering technology development and manufacturing, while IAT will deliver upper-body product design and full-vehicle integration technologies that are highly compatible with the chassis. 

The two parties will jointly develop new energy vehicles models covering various powertrain types such as pure electric and extended-range (EREV), expanding the global market hand in hand. The collaboration aims to provide end customers with more diverse and efficient options for complete vehicle development services.

The Panshi Chassis is a highly integrated, intelligent skateboard chassis solution developed by CATL, built around its leading power battery technology. It not only significantly improves the spatial efficiency of the battery-chassis integration and the overall energy efficiency of the battery-e-drive-thermal management system, but also – through an upper-lower body decoupled architecture – enables separate development and parallel upgrading of the chassis module and upper body, representing a major innovation. 

This chassis will greatly help partners shorten the R&D cycle for new vehicle models and reduce development costs. While ensuring high safety and quality, it will also accelerate the time-to-market of new products.
